Basics:
Name: Vladimir Haynsworth
Nickname: Vlad’s not a fan of nicknames.
Age: 67
Birthday: September 2
Gender: Male
Original/Cannon: Original
Category: One of the founders of the Followers of Amazarak
Power: The ability to create/control Puppets and what Haynsworth simply calls Probability. By willing himself to, Haynsworth can perceive the probable outcomes of a given action several seconds into the future. The complexity of the action affects how far he can see or how hard/long he must concentrate to see further.
The Look:
Physical Stats: Grey hair, balding. Hard, cold eyes.
Celebrity: Alan Dale.
Personality:
Vladimir Haynsworth is one of the true believers. Whereas some members are motivated by greed or others by bloodlust, Haynsworth’s ambitions lie with those of his master, Amazarak. He believes that demons are humans’ betters, that they will one day rule this world. Being an ambitious and forward thinking man, Haynsworth believes it will be to his advantage to have been one of those who help Amazarak rise to power. As long as Amazarak is free and Haynsworth able to take part in commanding the world that will be created when he is released, Haynsworth will be a happy man. To this end he recognizes a need to be useful to his master which is why he has taken the time to refine his techniques of control over the Puppets. It was Haynsworth who promoted the use and benefits of Puppets to the others.
He isn’t lazy, per se, but Haynsworth does not like to get his hands dirty. Puppets have become his eyes, ears, and hands. His patience, strong will, and recognition of the subtleties of the human mind have allowed Haynsworth to excel in controlling them to the point where he can control multiple slaves at the same time and not worry about their individuality or free will breaking through. Whereas most others with control over Puppets, including the other Originals, don’t often keep Puppets for more than a year (because the Puppets get killed, become useless, or keeping a hold on them becomes too stressful), Haynsworth can boast having control of the same Puppet, Tasha Preston, for approximately five years (see Tasha Preston’s history for details on this).
History:
Haynsworth has been interested in the ‘dark arts’ since his teen years. It was these interests that led to meeting the other founding members of the later Followers of Amazarak. His learned skill of finite control over Puppets (after much trial and error) earned him what might have been termed the position of “Compliance Officer” had their Cult actually been the corporation it claimed to be to the outside world. When lesser Followers cannot be trusted or when he simply wants matters handled in his own way, it’s often Haynsworth’s Puppets who are sent out to gather information or dispose of unfortunate people who stumble onto information about the existence of the cult. As his eyes and ears the Puppets are often ordered to maintain watch over the cult’s lesser members, ensuring their loyalty.
Haynsworth’s first puppet was a total stranger, but he quickly realized that control was easier when connected by blood. He then moved on to testing his abilities on his then 10 year old son. Soon after he began controlling his wife as well, partly to improve control over non-blood relations and partly to keep her quiet. For non-sentimental reasons (they were of close to no use to him and it would draw too much attention if they simply disappeared) he eventually let them go, using magic to make their enslavement seem little more than a bad dream.

Tasha strode down the steps to the center of the room, aware yet uncaring of all the eyes that were upon her. Three men and a woman stood there next to a table, also watching, waiting. She stopped in front of the table and reached for the object that sat upon it. She could tell from the expressions of those around her, that they did not believe she could complete her objective. She didn’t really understand why they thought that.
The mission was simple.
Tasha lifted the gun and pointed the barrel at her temple. She noted the cold chill of the metal, but didn’t react to it. With practiced precision, she looked ahead at one man in particular, her master, as she pulled back the hammer with her thumb and then, to the astonishment of many in the room she pulled the trigger.
There were several gasps and someone even shouted, but only a click came from the gun. Tasha lowered the weapon.
“Do you see, my friends?” It was the voice of Haynsworth, her master.
“Amazing,” replied one of the women, staring at her in surprise.
“I know they follow our orders and everything but... I didn’t really think the control would go so far...” said another.
Haynsworth chuckled. “These slaves do what they are told, no matter the danger to themselves. But it is important to remember this,” Haynsworth turned to address the whole room. “It is our initial strength of will and our control over our power that allows for this kind of control.”
There was the general sound of consensus and several people were nodding. Some of the lower ranking group members just stared at Tasha in awe. She took it all in without reaction. ‘Take this gun and fire it at your head.’ Those had been her orders. Now her mission had been carried out. Many here seemed surprised that she could do it, but apparently they underestimated her. She didn’t know why firing a gun was so difficult to them, but she didn’t dwell on it. It wasn’t required that she dwell on it.
One thing had somewhat surprised her however. Though she hadn’t been told it would be, Tasha had not expected the gun to be empty.
