Very cool episode. Seriously. I mean, you start an episode by killing off both Winchesters, and you know it's gotta be an interesting one, right?
This episode had a definite Dean-focus, I felt, which I think kind of skewed some of Sam's "favorite moments." I mean, Sam loves Dean more than anything, so you think at least one of his happy moments would've been with him, or maybe of the time when he met Jess, or something like that. I get that his wanting to be "normal" was a big thing for him, but I feel like his favorite moments were chosen by the writers to hit Dean in the gut as much as, if not more than, to showcase Sam's character.
Dean's flashbacks were pretty adorable - the fireworks one with young Sam was an awesome one to start out on. And I was pretty fond of the "road" that was the little race car tracks.
Dude, Ash was there. That was awesome for me, and the fact that he had pretty much figured out the ins and outs of heaven was definitely in-keeping with his character. Pamela... eh, it was nice to see her and all, but the character was always kind of an "eh" for me. "Eh, ok she's in this episode," "eh, that's fine, she's dead." I was never particularly excited to see her.
Heaven was slightly lameish, I think... but I guess maybe that had to do with looking at other people's heavens. If I was seeing my all time favorite moments maybe I'd find them irresistible too, but then you'd think you'd run out of them fairly quickly in the grand scheme of things, and then what? Repeating the same few wonderful moments over and over... you'd start to get sick of even the best-of-the-bests eventually.
Dean's getting severely depressed, man. Dropping his necklace in the garbage... not cool. I get why he's bitter, but I don't really get why he seems to be shutting Sam out right now. ...But I think I'll discuss that in the next episode's message instead.
