Finally! We're back with new episodes! And this one was a good one to start us back up. I thought this was a pretty good episode! I really wasn't expecting the brilliant twist they put on the zombies. When Sam and Dean broke into that first house and encounter their firs zombie of Sioux Falls and the zombie just spoke and acted like a living, breathing, tax paying person? That was great! It really threw me for a loop. I was expecting the usual slow moving brain eating zombie creature and here I'm faced with this undead dead guy. And then his wife showed up and acted as if everything was normal?
And THEN the sheriff shows up and does the same thing? Great twist and rather funny.
Funny that is until the Winchesters went back to Bobby's and found him with his dead wife. Now that was sad. I really felt for Bobby in this one. Two parts really stand out in my head with him. First, when Sam and Dean are trying to convince Bobby that nothing good will come of it and Bobby tells them to listen. And we hear his dead wife humming in the kitchen and Bobby tells them how she always used to do that and that he'd never thought he'd hear that again. Really pulled on the heartstrings there. Just a very simple, sweet, and realistic thing that people might remember of a dead loved one.
The second was, of course, when Bobby killed her. Again. That whole scene where his wife (can't remember her name at the moment!) was telling him he had to do it because she was going to turn on him soon. I was actually hoping for Dean to show up so Bobby wouldn't have to go through doing that. And for a second time too!
Brilliant of the Devil to send Death to hurt Bobby like that. He knows the only way to get his vessel to say yes is to take away his support structure and chip away at him from the inside.
So, yeah. Overall I rather enjoyed this episode and I was very happy it hadn't turned out to be just another zombie story. It seems like there are a lot of them out there right now, but this one kept it unique and to the SPN-verse.
I could say more, but I think I've chatted away enough for the moment and I've got to get to bed. I'm way more tired than I should be for this time of night.
Last thing: I can't wait for next week! I looks very exciting! Death for the Winchesters? Oh no!
