The general rules and decorum of fight club posts are pretty much the same as those we’ve been using in all our plot-related RPs, but we figure we should lay them out all the same so we have something offical to point at if/when there are any issues in your battles.
1) The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.
2) The second rule of Fight Club is: you’re actually totally allowed to talk about fight club… but only in other OOC areas, like the Roadhouse. (Helpful Hint: Rule #2 trumps Rule #1)
3) As in all other sections of the site, only respond to your own threads. Don’t go diving into a fight you’re not a part of without permission.
4) Establish the general setting in the first post. There’s no need to describe everything down to the old cigarette burn in the floor, but give a basic overview of the terrain you have to work with.
5) In the first post each character must also lay out what weapons, if any, he/she is bringing into the battle. The weapons are allowed to remain hidden from the other character’s knowledge (ex: hidden in a boot, under a coat, etc) and the fight will therefore proceed as if it is secret, but laying them out from the start will keep the fight moving realistically – AKA, the players will be able to resist the urge to pull an UZI out of their back pockets when the fight’s going badly.
a. This excludes makeshift weapons that could be gathered from the environment, such as a stick in a forest scene or a pool cue in a bar room, etc.
6) There can only be one defensive and one offensive move in each post, no more. (Ex: “Chase punched Sam in the face, then while he was still reeling, kicked him in the gut, drew out his dagger, and stabbed through his chest” would not be allowed.) Opponents must be given the opportunity to realistically react/counter an attack.
7) Remember that these characters are not immortal. (No, not even Katsu. ) They will weaken as they sustain injuries, and as the fight goes on they will begin to tire. Keep that in mind and post your reactions realistically.
8) Battles will be ended through concession or death. With that in mind, remember: you CAN die in these threads. Yes, we mean YOU. These battles are out of plot, and what happens here, stays here. That means that it doesn’t matter how important you might be to the site story; if you sustain too many injuries, no white light’s going to shine down and save you. Be willing to accept defeat, or the admins will be forced to step in.
