Dean’s often light-hearted, cocky, and flirtatious persona overlay a deeper and darker soul. He feels a great guilt over the death of his father, who sold his soul to save Dean’s life, and carries the weight of the man’s vague last orders: to “save” Sam, and if he can’t, to kill him. Dean comes off as the less sensitive of the two brothers, but he never turns away from a person in danger. He doesn’t like to share his feelings and it is usually only Sam that can drag what he’s feeling out of him. He is an intense Hunter who loves the job, and though he is somewhat impulsive and more of a shoot first ask questions later person when it comes to supernatural creatures, he very good at what he does. Above all else Dean is loyal to his family and will do whatever it takes to protect what is left of it.
History:
Dean Winchester was born in Lawrence, Kansas to a seemingly normal family. When he was four years old his mother was killed by the Yellow-Eyed Demon in his little brother Sam’s room. Though he didn’t see what happened, he’d heard his father shouting and came down the hall to see what was going on. He didn’t even make it to his destination when his father rushed out and put his infant brother in his arms and ordered him to run. After that, everything changed.
Dean’s father, John, learned all he could about the supernatural world and soon started working cases both to help innocent people as well as to gain information about the demon that had murdered his wife. He raised Dean and Sam to be hunters as well. When Dean was six years old, John took him out to shoot targets for the first time and he bulls-eyed every one (“No Exit”). When John went off to work cases, Dean was left to care for Sam for hours or days at a time, but he never complained. When Sam was old enough he left for college, ending on a bad note with their father. Dean stayed with John and continued to work cases with him and eventually working cases on his own.
When Dean was twenty-six, John left to work a case and didn’t come back. Concerned, Dean visited Sam at his home in Palo Alto, California and convinced him to help find their missing father. Clues on what John had been hunting before he disappeared led the brothers to Jericho, California, where they ended up saving a town from a Woman in White. Despite not finding their father, after the case was completed, Sam wished to return to Stanford for an interview to get into law school. Though unhappy with Sam’s decision and not understanding his desire for ‘normalcy’, Dean returned his brother to his home. He began to return to his search for John, when something brought him back to Sam’s house. He entered to find Sam in his room staring at his girlfriend, Jess, who had been pinned to the ceiling and burst into flames in the same way their mother had. Dean dragged Sam from the burning house, but it was too late for Jess. Sam joined Dean after that in the search for their father and to hunt down the demon that had killed Jess and their mother. Despite the circumstances, Dean was glad to have his brother back.
Together the pair hunted many supernatural beings and worked many cases. While trying to prove one of Sam’s old friends innocent of a murder in St. Louis, Minnesota, a shapeshifter assumed Dean’s appearance and assaulted another of Sam’s friends and then Sam himself. To stop it, Dean was forced to kill it while it was still in Dean’s form. The police found the body and not only declared Dean Winchester dead to the world, but pinned the murder on him as well.
By the time Dean and Sam finally found their father, another problem had developed. Sam was having premonitions. The idea was unsettling to Dean, even more so when they realized that it was connected to the demon that had killed their mom. Whatever his feelings, the power came in handy. John had left Dean one year earlier because he’d finally found clues on the Yellow-Eyed Demon and figured out the general area that it would strike next. With the help of Sam’s visions, the threesome narrowed it down to a single family. With the help of the Colt, they planned to end the demon’s existence once and for all, but by this time YED had learned that the dangerous weapon was in their hands. In the demon’s attempt to get the weapon, it possessed John and nearly killed Sam and Dean. The Winchesters barely escaped with their lives and managed to hang onto the Colt, but the demon wasn’t done.
It sent another demon after the three, possessing a truck driver. As Sam, Dean, and John made their getaway in the Impala, the demon hit them broadside with an 18 wheeler, totaling the car and leaving the three extremely injured. They were airlifted to a hospital where Sam and John were informed that Dean was in critical condition. Because he was so close to death, Dean’s spirit actually separated from his body and roamed the hospital, but he wasn’t alone. A reaper, taking on the appearance of a young woman, tried to convince Dean to let go of his life lest he become a vengeful spirit, one of the supernatural creatures he hunted. Sam refused to give up on Dean, but could find no way to help him. John couldn’t bear to lose his son and so without either Sam or Dean’s knowledge, he summoned the demon they’d been hunting for so long and made a deal: his life and the Colt for Dean.
Dean awoke in the hospital with no memory of his out of body experience, and miraculously healed. Not long after, John entered Dean’s room and began to behave strangely. John told Dean how proud he was of him, his unexplained emotion making Dean worry. And then John gave him his final orders. He told Dean that he had to save Sam, and that if he couldn’t... he’d have to kill him. He exited the room without another word and only a sad but comforting smile, leaving Dean wide-eyed and speechless. Almost right after that, John died mysteriously and the Colt disappeared.
Though John never said, it wasn’t hard to realize what had happened. Dean’s guilt weighs heavily, but he hasn’t told Sam what’s on his mind or about their dad’s last words. Not yet.

Interests
It doesn’t take much to make Dean happy. Give him his car, his brother, a gun, and a few evil creatures to hunt and his day is made. Of course, afterward, he doesn’t mind heading down to a bar to socialize with the local ladies over a few drinks.
Sample Post:
Dean yawned and leaned forward, twirling his empty shot glass on the bar table. The tavern was nearly empty save for a few men and women who’d stayed throughout the night. Dean had his eye one person in particular.
The black-haired woman glanced his way and he smiled at her shamelessly. She turned just a bit pink and looked away. Dean looked away as well and motioned to the bartender to bring him another drink. He’d been there most of the night as well, but unlike the other patrons, he wasn’t there because he was too drunk to leave or because he had nowhere to go.
“Hey, you want to get one for me too?”
Dean looked up to see the woman he’d been eyeing take a seat on the stool next to him. With a nonchalant shrug and a smile, Dean added a second drink to his order.
“What a gentleman,” she said, flicking a long lock of hair over her shoulder.
“I’ve been known to be just that now and again,” Dean replied. The drinks, two shots of whiskey, arrived with surprising speed and Dean dug into his wallet and slid a few bills to the bartender.
“Now and again, hm? What about the rest of the time?” the woman asked in a mischievous tone.
At this, Dean’s eyes went just a little bit wide and he looked at her in surprise, just as the bartender began to speak, his booming voice catching everyone’s attention.
“Finish your last drink people. We’re closing up.”
There was a low sound of general discord from the few remaining patrons. Dean looked to his new acquaintance.
“Looks like the party’s almost ended, sweetheart.”
The last group filed out of the tavern, the door slowly swinging shut behind them, as the woman slid Dean’s shot glass towards him and pulled her own closer to her.
“Well, the night’s still young, you know,” the woman replied.
Dean pursed his lips, appearing thoughtful yet interested. “I like the way you think.”
She lifted her glass. “I’ll drink to that.”
Dean followed suit. “Cheers.” Clinking their glasses briefly, the pair downed their shots quickly and slammed their glasses down on the bar. She watched him with what seemed an honest smile, but Dean looked back at her stoically. The woman barely had enough time to register the expression when she hissed sharply as an intense pain like a fire burned in her mouth. She jumped up off the stool, smoke billowing from her mouth even as an angered shout escaped her lips.
“What did you do?” she shrieked.
Throughout her fit, Dean watched her coldly, his suspicions having been justified. The woman was a demon. Her reaction to the holy water in her drink had proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt. When the woman- demon- regained some measure of control, it glared back at him furiously through those gorgeous blue eyes and he smirked.
“Just spiked your drink with a little holy water,” he replied. Dean glanced to the bartender, who watched with no surprise, and grinned. “Told you it would work, Bobby. You and Sam have got to have a little more faith in me.”
With a growl of anger the demon jumped at him, hands held out and ready to tear him apart, but when she got within four inches, she was suddenly repelled with such force, she fell back several steps. She looked at him in surprise for Dean nor the ‘bartender’ had lifted a finger. Dean gave a quiet chuckle, obviously enjoying her predicament, and pointed up to the devil’s trap he had painted on the ceiling earlier that night.
“Gotcha.”
