Name: Evan Hallowed
Nicknames: “Hallowed Devil”
Age: 41
Birthday: November 6th, 1967
Gender: Male
Original/Cannon: Original
Category: One of the original Followers of Amazarak
Power: Evan’s charisma has been enhanced by Amazarak, making him more easily trusted and seen as a respectable person. The power of Evan’s Charisma has allowed him access many opportunities to enhance the Cult’s power and prosperity. The Charisma is limited when people have a strong personal will, psychic ability, or supernatural nature. Evan does not have the power of suggestion, but if he becomes trusted enough, he can influence decisions as if he is a trusted childhood friend.
Evan also has control of some of the Cult’s Puppets, one of them being his younger brother Grant, who was his first puppet.
The Look:
Celebrity: Ethan Hawke
Physical Stats: An average-seeming man, Evan stands at 5’10” more often wearing business suits than casual clothing. He has dark brown hair which he only has cut once or twice a year. It is normally cut short at the beginning of the year and is allowed to grow to about shoulder length before he gets fed up with it. His eyes are bright blue.
Evan is in good shape, visiting his personal gym every morning, and kickboxing and fencing with his bodyguard Janin. His demeanor is reserved, but seemingly amiable and trustworthy.
Personality: Evan’s mind is a labyrinth of bloodlust and greed. His actions are dominated by his desire for power and his need for anything and everything. He will gladly take another’s life if it will further his goals, or even give him a few moments’ amusement. The single person Evan is emotionally close to (relatively) is his bodyguard, Janin, but even he would be gladly sacrificed without a moments’ hesitation if it would be beneficial to Evan.
But that is all on the inside. Externally, this sociopath gives off an aura of trust and moral uprightness. People will trust him easily and take his word for granted. Evan converses well and is an excellent public speaker, easily lightening the mood and creating a great amiability with those he is around. As such, Evan is often the face for the Cult’s “company” if there is need for a public appearance, “discussion” with the law, or meeting with other corporations.
For all his good humor and amiability, however, if Evan is disappointed or someone fails a task he assigned for them, his retribution is swift and terrible. Though he may reserve himself to an icy glare as he assigns the punishment, if he is truly provoked, Evan’s anger knows no bounds. From political destruction to personal murder, he will completely destroy a person’s life, death, and afterlife if they fail him.
History:
Evan was a child of two low-income immigrants, only just arrived from Italy. His father Eric was originally from London, but had met Evan’s mother, Pietrina on a business trip to Florence with his own (rich) parents. After having a heated argument with his parents, Eric stayed behind in Florence, where he worked for a year before marrying Pietrina. The couple had a baby boy they named James while they lived in Florence, but after the death of Pietrina’s father, the couple -along with Pietrina’s mother- moved to America. They got jobs in the New York area and began to expand their family. The couple’s next child was Evan. They soon also had another son and two daughters, followed by twin brother and sister. Evan was generally left to his own devices, ignored because of his many younger siblings, who required the constant attention of his parents.
Evan did not like to take care of his siblings, often staying over his older friend Ron’s house, who taught him deplorable behavior, how to cheat, steal, and fire a gun. Evan, bored with normal life was a delinquent at school in his early years, but after maturing, he realized he would never get anywhere if no one in power (in this case, his teachers) trusted him. He began to pull himself together, becoming first in his class throughout high school. While Evan gained the respect of his teachers, he also gained the admiration of some of his fellow classmates by selling drugs he obtained through Ron, whose father was involved in the black market. He never used the drugs himself, seeing them as a form of weakness, and a perfect way to impair judgment in others.
After high school, Evan separated himself from his family, having earned money through his drug dealing and having “friends” steal for him. Evan never went to college, starting a shipping business on the Hudson, enhancing his profits with a black market business of his own. His friend Ron originally worked for him, but Evan discovered he was doing business with other contacts behind his back using Evan’s company money, and not being too subtle about the business in relation to the police. Evan ruthlessly cut him out of business, maneuvering Ron’s shares into his own pocket. Ron has not been seen since.
Soon afterward, Evan made contact with one of Ron’s secret partners. He soon discovered that this contact, Aleksei, was a witch, part of a small Covent. Though at first he was skeptical, after a few months working the drug market with this contact, Evan learned much about the supernatural. Learning about the existence of demons specifically sparked Evan’s interest greatly; demons seemed more akin to him than humans.
Evan learned all he could about demons, magic and the supernatural. He tried magically enhancing his bodyguards, hoping to enhance himself if it worked, but none of his initial tests worked reliably, and he was forced to rid himself of the tainted bodyguards. After resigning himself to the fact that no human can be enhanced, Evan discovered Janin Banur, a mercenary-for-hire. Setting him against his other bodyguards as a test (and a source of amusement), Evan found that Janin was the most talented fighter he had ever seen, and that he would be needing a new set of bodyguards after Janin had dealt with them. Janin became the head of his personal guard and soon became his most trusted servant.
Not too long after that, Evan was invited to a meeting with Aleksei and five other people. Taking only Janin with him, Evan went to this “meeting,” having been promised an unimaginable opportunity.
It was at this meeting that the demon Amazarak showed himself to the group of seven, weaving an image of power and glory so strong that none of the seven hesitated in swearing fealty to him, in return for certain abilities. Evan, knowing the power in respectability and trust, asked Amazarak for the power to make people around him instinctively trust him, and was bestowed with what Evan calls his “Charisma.”
The Cult of Amazarak was born.
Being the youngest of the seven, only 21, he was often underestimated by the other Cult members and treated like a fool, except by Aleksei. Aleksei had worked with Evan long enough to see how ruthless and cunning he could be. While the other five might speak less guardedly with Evan, not expecting him to be able to do anything, Aleksei has been more secretive, not always letting Evan or the other members know what his motives and activities have been. Because of this, Evan sees Aleksei as his most dangerous competition for power.
The seven were also granted the power to make Puppets, but were advised to make their first a blood-relation to increase the power of the control. Following this advice, Evan invited one of his younger brothers, Grant, to come work with him. Grant, 20 years old, had finished college in three years and was looking for a job in public relations. Evan had not spoken to Grant or the rest of his family for many years, but Grant took the job. Evan felt no remorse that he was subjugating his own brother’s mind as he performed the ritual, creating his first puppet.
Over the next 20 years, the Cult’s power grew steadily, and though the other cult members grew to be more wary of Evan, they grew to “trust” him, making him the unofficial face of the company. Though each member of the cult specialized in a different area, Evan continued to deal within the black market, and also expanded his influence into some companies within the public domain, including Google. Though his involvement in these “over-the-counter” businesses is limited, his influence earns him considerable profit. Over these years, Evan gained control over more puppets, including his younger sister Luna. He also asserted control over his bodyguard Janin’s mind, not wanting to risk betrayal.
Evan’s motive has always been and still is his lust for power and money. Though he is wary of the other Cult members, he generally sees them as below him, and if necessary –and approved by Amazarak (though he loathed to be subordinate to anyone) – he would destroy them all.

Evan stood, staring hard out the window of one of his “offices.” It was one of the more spacious spaces he worked in. Sometimes his business led him to the most unkempt places, but he preferred to have business come to him, where he was in control, and where his “business partners” would feel ill-at-ease. This particular office was on the seventieth floor of a tall, glass-encased skyscraper. The “company” owned the floors 40 and up, as well as the two basements below the underground parking garage, not on the original blueprints, of course.
He stood contemplating, pensive. Just recently, one of Evan’s men had proved to be an… unnecessary investment… why had the fool been so careless around a police officer? Janin had had to kill the officer himself to make sure nothing was revealed about Evan’s connections.
A knock sounded from the two hardwood doors of his office and Janin himself stepped inside.
“Sir,” Janin said, “we are ready for you in the basement.”
“Excellent. Thank you, Janin. I’ll be there in a moment.”
Janin nodded and left the room. Evan stayed by the window, thinking for a moment, then with a slight sigh, turned and left the room. Calmly he walked down the empty halls. From many of the offices he passed, sounds of voices escaped through the walls, all business transactions that would only make the “Company” more money, but more importantly Evan himself.
Evan smiled slightly to himself and entered the elevator, slipping a master key into the control panel, sending the elevator down to the basement levels. He spent a few moments enjoying Bach’s Double Violin Concerto as the elevator descended.
His pleasure only increased as the elevator doors opened, allowing beautiful screams to mingle with the soothing concerto. Humming happily to himself as he walked down the concrete halls, Evan approached a door on his right, nodding to Janin standing just outside. Without a word, Janin offered his hand, taking Evan’s suit coat before Evan entered the room.
A man lay on a cold metal table, his arms and legs strapped tightly down. He was completely naked, and Evan could see he was shaking slightly. He had twisted around to stare at Evan as he entered. Evan gave the man a warm smile as he closed the door behind him.
“Hello Mr. Toth, feeling well this morning?” he asked, crossing the room to stand beside the table, still smiling. The man didn’t reply. “Oh, Jake, don’t be like that! You don’t mind if I call you Jake, do you?”
“Si-siir..” the man stuttered, “I-I’m sorry, you know I didn’t mean-“
“Oh, Jake, it’s alright!” Evan patted the man on the shoulder amiably. “That whole affair is gone and passed! Dear Janin was able to solve your little mishap, no worries.” His smile fell slightly, and the man trembled.
“However…” he shook his head, “you know I cannot accept failure.” Evan turned, walking to the small table at the side of the room. “When you signed on, you promised me that you would never fail me.” The man whimpered. “Yes, I remember our first meeting, and I’m sure you remember that promise as well. So you see how you’re in a bit of a bind…”
Evan turned back to the man, gently patting his cheek and brushing a small bit of dust off his chest. “Is there anything you would like to say to me, Jake?”
The man whimpered and held back tears as he made out the words, “I’m sorry sir. I am truly sorry for what I did and- and I will make it up to you, sir. I-I will!”
Evan grasped the man’s hand comfortingly. “I forgive you, Jake, I really do. And I am sure you will make it up to me. Now.”
The man looked questioningly at Evan. Evan smiled warmly back at the man as he plunged the small scalpel into his bare chest.
