Mrs. Minjares scowled back at him. "So you agree he's dangerous."
"Of course, Mrs. Minjares, that was never debatable. Have you read his reports? Or the reports on him? Fascinating, but although a rabid dog makes a good guard dog, you do have to know when to put it down before it bites you."
This seemed to placate Mrs. Minjares somewhat. "All right. I think we understand each other then after all. We'll use the priest instead. The other one will always be around as backup anyway in case the priest gets damaged before the ritual. Look at him, Mr. Haynsworth. Doesn't he have the look of desperation that usually precedes something terribly foolish?"
Haynsworth looked back at the pale and angry priest. He did indeed have that look. The cult member spared a moment to glance into the future, enough time for only a few quick actions to take place. There was a whoosing sound in his ears and the edges of the world become blurred and rushed as he used his Gift to see what would happen if they ignored this look that the priest cast their way and continued towards the ritual chamber. He saw through his own eyes, several seconds in the future, but saw nothing of note. Yet. The priest very well might try something a little further into the future. And if he did, he very well could get... damaged. Too damaged and it would be an insult to Amazarak to offer the priest as a host.
Blinking away the minor dizziness that accompanied returning to the present, he replied, "Yes. We'll just have to see what happens, won't we."
And with that he turned his back on the priest, just as he had seen himself do with his Gift, and renewed his walk towards victory.
